OSHA Fall Protection Training
The lack of OSHA fall protection training can often put employees in great danger. They’re handed a harness and told to work. But they don’t know what to do with the harness or why they need it. That’s why we work with Cal/OSHA to offer the kind of training that saves lives.
You should not put employees in a situation posing a fall hazard without training first.
Professional OSHA Fall Protection Training
Training is an integral part of any company’s fall protection plan. Versatile Systems, Inc. has increased efforts in recent years to provide fall protection training opportunities. We have partnered with Cal/OSHA, and we provide a surplus of courses on the following topics:
- Competent Person Fall Protection Training
- Authorized User Training
- Rescue Training
“Ten years ago you couldn’t find fall protection training, they were few and far between,” says Mr. Bohres, of Warner Brother’s Studios. He added: “[fall protection training’s] recent prevalence is improving safety across the board.”

Authorized User Training
Workers exposed to any fall hazard or fall risk must be trained to use the required fall protection equipment before accessing elevated work areas.
Fatal falls, slips, or trips took the lives of 666 workers in 2011, about 14 percent of all fatal work injuries. Falls to a lower level accounted for 541 of those fatalities. It is our goal to educate employers and workers on the dangers of fall hazards and to decrease the number of fall related deaths in years to come.
Even though it is an OSHA requirement, the need for rescue from a fall is often overlooked by many general industry and construction industry facilities that are required to use fall protection.
The Rescue Training Course is designed for any employee who works at heights in construction or general industry. This course includes:
- Hands-on interactive sessions with demonstration
- Written exams
And field exercises teaching the basics of self-rescue as well as assisting a fall victim
The training outlined below is for the safe techniques used in performing the rescue of a fallen worker suspended by fall protection equipment.
This training will take place over two, eight-hour days, splitting time between classroom and on-site instruction. VER Safety will provide all necessary training materials and lunch each day. All participants must have a working knowledge of fall protection equipment and no fear of heights. Each student will be asked to act as both victim and rescuer and will be expected to complete the rescue without coaching by the end of the class.
All applicable OSHA regulations are followed and covered during the training course, including ANSI Z359. This is the updated standard for fall protection, and it contains two important guidelines for rescue. Portion Z359.0 provides facility managers with a plan to build and maintain rescue operations, and portion Z359.3 standardizes the construction, use, and training requirements for fall protection rescue equipment. We will go highlight these regulations in the training.
